JNI is predominantly a wholesale grower, and as such, a wholesale salesperson is an integral part of the operation. Working directly with new and existing customers, you will be the go-to person for all inquiries a customer might have, including quotes, orders, plant recommendations, and expert advice on Johnson’s Nursery plants. The successful candidate will have a history of sales experience and a demonstrated ability to generate sales from new leads and existing customers.

Position Details

  • Full-time, salary
  • 45 hours per week, plus more as workload dictates
  • Trade-off Saturday mornings with other salespeople from March through October

Job Description

  • Prepare quotes and orders for clients in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist wholesale customers with landscape plant selections
  • A wholesale salesperson can coordinate the pickup or shipment of orders
  • Solicit to new clients, generate new business from existing clients, and client relationship management
  • Market Johnson’s Nursery products and services to new and existing wholesale clients in-person or online
  • Travel approx. ~10% of the time, such as but not limited to, visiting clients and/or attending tradeshows

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years in the green industry with some sales experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of direct horticulture experience in a green industry field – i.e horticulture, design, or forestry
  • A wholesale salesperson has demonstrated an ability to sell $500K or more over multiple years
  • Capability to upsell inventory plant material, market our wide range of products and services, and offer helpful suggestions and substitutions
  • Ability to work outdoors; ability to lift 50 pounds safely
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player attitude
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
  • Adept with computers, mobile devices, email
    • Ability to work within JNI inventory systems, IT infrastructure, and website systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
